MT3200 - Universal In-Line Filter Assembly What is different about this new service lter?
Fits 3/8”, 5/16”, 1/2” Dia Tubes Can be used with
or without ori ce tubes.
Issue #1
Provide a simpli ed robust leak free installation. The original lter design incorporated an O-Ring to seal around the a/c tube OD. Successful installation required a smooth round surface. Technicians pointed out the obvious eld reality:
1) All tubes are not perfectly round.
2) Tube nish does have surface imperfections.
3) Installing the lter collar twice to assure proper
seating is non-productive and technician sensitive.
The redesigned lter replaces the single O-Ring with a robust tapered sealing sleeve. The sleeve provides 10 times the sealing area and greatly increases the seal’s ability to overcome eld tube irregularities. The additions of slots on the brass collar permits the collar to seat correctly on the rst installation as well as increase compression on the sleeve.
Issue #2
Increased debris containment. The redesign incorporates a new screen within a new body. This not only shortens the overall lter length but also increases three-fold capacity while reducing pressure and ow restrictions.
Issue #3
Several models and inability to cover new systems. The old lter had four P/N’s. Two tube sizes with a variation of each to incorporate a .072” ori ce. The new unit is universal and ts the same tube sizes plus the 5/16”, common to TXV systems. In addition, the universal unit permits the technician to rework an existing ori ce (regardless of size -.072”, .062”, .052”, etc) and incorporate it into the lter.This greatly simpli es inventory and increases technician exibility.
Overall, the new lter should provide the insurance the technician has been requesting to reduce comebacks on compressor replacements, especially with rear a/c systems.
